Began the Seminar "The democratization of knowledge for the creation of a Culture of Peace"

Under the auspices of the Organization of American States and with the presence of the Foreign Minister Gonzalo Fernández, the Representative of the OAS Uruguay Office, Ambassador John Biehl del Rio and the President of the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU), Miguel Brechner, began today in Montevideo, in the framework of “Plan CEIBAL”, the seminar "The democratization of knowledge for the creation of a culture of peace"
 
The objective of “Plan CEIBAL” is to promote social justice by promoting equal access to information and communication tools in Uruguay. It seeks to promote active participation of students and teachers in the world of Internet, through the distribution of laptops. The richness of this proposal goes beyond the delivery of computers, providing content, connectivity and the democratization of knowledge within a dynamic and innovative learning environment.

This international meeting will address the issues of democratization of information and communication and the impact and progress of “Plan CEIBAL”, both in an educational and social level. Also, during 2 days of work (29 and 30 April), they will share experiences of other countries in the region in the field.

As part of this seminar, the Director General of the IIN, María de los Dolores Aguilar, made a presentation entitled Decalogue on the Protection of Children and Youth in times of crisis. (in Spanish)
